Q. There are websites that criticize organizations whose names include “Mahikari.” Is what they say true? |
A.
The purpose of Sekai Mahikari Bunmei Kyodan-U.S.A. is to provide spiritual salvation through religious activities. We have never participated in any activities that would work against society such as “brainwashing” or “mind control,” and there is no doctrine suggesting those kinds of activities in any of our teachings. Furthermore, we have no connection with any other organizations that contain the name “Mahikari” in their organization’s name, such as “Sukyo Mahikari” or “Sin Yu Gen Mahikari.” |

Q. What is the Art of Spiritual Purification? |
A. “The Art of Spiritual Purification” is the art of radiating a high dimensional Divine Light from one's palm. When we receive or give purification to someone in this way, we connect with the extraordinary pure Light Waves that come from the highest dimensional Divine World. In the course of our Spiritual Training, we perform and receive Divine Light as frequently as possible so that we can communicate with The Divine Spirit. As a result our soul and spirit are purified and elevated to a higher level. |

Q. Is there a main location for this organization in the United States? |
A.
Yes. There are two centers, or Dojos, (formally called Spiritual Development Centers) in both California and New York. There are also some additional branches in other locations. (Click here for details.) |
| |
Q. What are the centers like? |
A.
The Universal Creator, Su-God, is enshrined in each center and branch. Ministers have been assigned to the main centers in California and New York and travel to the other branches frequently to give members guidance about how to implement "The Art of Spiritual Purification" and "The Righteous Teaching." There are also some regular events, such as the Monthly Ceremony, the 3-Day Basic Seminar (which is required to take in order to become a member), Righteous Teaching classes, and Okiyome Practice classes that are held either weekly or monthly in the centers and branches. |

Q. What is meant by Spiritual Training? |
A.
Spiritual Training is designed to enhance one’s life. It is said that every phenomenon that happens to us in the physical world is a reflection of the Spiritual World. The Spiritual World is the fundamental origin of every sentient being, and it influences everything in the physical world, including our bodies and daily lives. Therefore, we can enhance our lives by learning about the Spiritual World and, in so doing, have an opportunity to grasp true happiness through Spiritual Training. This Spiritual Training consists of 9 different levels, which includes "Okiyome Practice," "Spiritual Etiquette," and "Practical Training" at each level. |
| |
Q. How can I go to the next level? |
A.
There are examinations for stepping up to the higher levels in Spiritual Training. You prepare for and take these exams under the instruction and direction of the ministers. However, the purpose of the examinations is not to evaluate you, but rather to discover any misunderstandings or lack of clarity about how to perform Spiritual Purification as well as your depth of understanding of The Righteous Teaching. Throughout the exams, a minister is there to help you correct and deepen your understanding in order to properly step up to the next level. |

Q. What is a “Spiritual Volunteer”? |
A.
Spiritual Volunteers are SMBK members who make spiritual contributions to society. In brief, Spiritual Volunteers support people spiritually by performing the "The Art of Spiritual Purification” (giving Divine Light) to others. Currently, members hold various Spiritual Volunteer activities in society, and participating in these events is included in the Spiritual Training menu. |

Q. What is a “Traveling Minister”? |
A.
“traveling minister” is a minister who goes to remote places for members who live far from the main centers or branches. Needless to say, those members cannot visit a center very often for either Spiritual Training or to receive Divine Light. Therefore, traveling ministers visit their city, hold events, and give proper guidance to those members. |
| |
Q. After I become a member, will Traveling Ministers visit my city, too? |
A.
If your residence is considered to be far enough from either of the main centers or branches, a traveling minister may visit your city (within the United States only). However, the frequency of the visits would depend on how many members live in your area and the schedule of the traveling ministers at any given time. Details can be discussed with the traveling ministers after you become a member. |
| |
Q. How can I start the spiritual training? |
A.
You are required to attend a 3-Day Basic Seminar, which is held every month. Click here for details. |
